Il presente articolo illustra - con l'aiuto di alcuni esempi - il contenuto dei tre volumi relativi alle Matematiche elementari da un punto di vista superiore, scritti da Felix Klein all'inizio del '900. Si analizza il significato di "elementare'' e di "punto di vista superiore'', nonché l'influenza che quest'opera di Klein ha avuto nei futuri corsi dedicati alla formazione degli insegnanti di Matematica.
