Nella presente Nota I ed in una seguente Nota II (Zanzotto 1988) si discutono, alla luce dei dati sperimentali ora disponibili, i risultati di una teoria termoelastica della geminazione meccanica nei solidi cristallini. Emergono vari problemi degni di nota, alcuni dei quali riguardano le stesse ipotesi di base della teoria.
