Sunto

It is shown that for an expansive operator T on a Hilbert space $(H , \langle , \rangle)$ there exists a nontrivial involution J (i.e. satisfying $J \ne — I$) such that the operator T is J-contractive on $(H , [ , ])$, $[ , ]$ being the indefinite inner product defined by J.
