Sunto

A group of three patients w ith a prominent gastric lymphoid hyperplasia (so-called gastric lymphoma), all with surgical resection, were investigated in order to distinguish simple reactive hyperplasias from neoplastic proliferations. Microscopically, ultrastructural and immunological data were compared to those from two subjects having undergone gastric surgery for peptic ulcer used as the control group. Significant immunological differences between peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) of the two groups were found. In particular, the PBL of the first group revealed cellular modifications comparable to those observed in patients with lymph node malignant non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
