Sunto

In stationary cultures dissociated cells of embryos of locusts S. gregaria Forskål at different stages of development, before and after blastokinesfs, seeded in Petri dishes (Falcon Plastic) with different culture media form aggregates (self-aggregation). They are formed within 24 h and show different shape and pattern in the various tested media. The developmental stage of the embryos from which the cells are obtained, is determinant upon the pattern of aggregation, with different media. With preblastokinetic embryos a higher number and larger aggregates are obtained in cultures with Grace's Antherea medium; with post-blastokinetic embryos best results are obtained with a medium formed by Hoyle's saline solution, glucose, lactalbumin hydrolisate and yeast extract.
