In order to determine the effects of ischemia on embrionic development of mice, the ligature of the ovarian and the uterine artery was performed in pregnant females on 8th or 14th day of gestation. Uteroplacental ischemia produced intrauterine growth retardation, fetal death and malformations. The teratogenic effect was very high with treatment performed on 14th day of gestation.
