Two new alkaloids from a sample of Ervatamia coronaria (syn Tabernae-montana coronaria) an Apocynacea, grown in the state of Pernambuco (Brasil). The structures of these alkaloids were established through the physico-chemical properties (u.v., i.r., n.m.r. spectra), the mass fragmentation patterns and the chemical behaviour. The alkaloids, derived both from coronaridin (18-carbomethoxy ibogamin)(I), also present in the plant, are 19,(2)-ketopropyl-coronaridin(V) and 19-oxo-coronaridin(VI). Ten other alkaloids were obtained from the same plant and are presently under investigation.
