Sunto

The role played by the thymus in the regenerative process of cervical lymph-nodes was investigated in total-body irradiated mice and in thymus shielded mice. In the lymph-nodes of the shielded animals a lower percentage of pycnotic lymphocytes and a significatively higher mitotic index, detectable at an earlier restitutional stage, were found. As a concomitant event a quite remarkable mitotic activity was observed in the thymus. The Authors conclude that a continuous migration of thymocytes towards X-ray damaged lymph-nodes occurs in this group of animals.
