Sunto

By means of cytochemical and staining techniques two changes have been observed in the type of nuclear basic proteins occurring during the last stages of spermatogenesis in Asellus (Asellus) aquaticus (Crust. Isopoda). The first occurs in the early spermatids: their nucleus becomes full of arginine rich histones; the second change, which occurs in the heads of the sperms just before maturation, consists in the complete loss of histones which are substituted by protamines.
