The alloys of the aluminiums-iridium system have been studied in the complete range of composition. About 35 samples were prepared by induction melting and, after an annealing treatment, were subjected to chemical analysis, specific gravity determination, X-ray and micrographic examinations. The existence has been deduced of, at least the following phases: Al5Ir, Al375Ir, Al3Ir (hexagonal, Na3As type), Al2,7Ir (cubic, a deformed AuZn3 type structure) and AlIr (cubic CsCl type). The results are briefly discussed.
