With reference to the results of our “Note I”, we now consider the motion of the fluid in a fixed vessel with rigid wall. We establish new equations for the motion, and utilizing opportunely the theory of the newtonian potential, by means of the Clebsch theorem we reduce the question to determine a vector u, that satisfies the equation of the wave which propagates in the direction of the applied magnetic field, and to determine a harmonic function of which are known the boundary values of the normal derivative.
