Sunto

Different strains of rats were trained in a shuttle-box and avoidance and emotional (freezing) behavior were assessed. Marked differences were observed both in level of performance and in freezing behavior characterizing the different strains. Reversal learning was followed by the appearance of high levels of freezing reactions. The results show that avoidance behavior is genetically determined.
