Sunto

Concerning translation shells for which the ratio of main curvatures is small an elastic theory is presented which contains, as a special case, the theory for long cylindrical shells. Orders of approximations are defined by means of the thickness parameter. For stress states having sinusoidal lengthwise variation a resolution procedure is suggested.
