The cytological organization of the following muscle fibres of Cetonia aurata: head muscle, elytra muscle, flight muscle, coxal and leg muscles have been investigated by electron microscopy. In this research the AA. study the presence of two different kinds of myofilament arrangement: one of flight muscles and the other one of skeletal muscles. There are however some differences in different types of muscles in the relative disposition of the constituent parts of the cell. The purpose of this work is to begin an ultrastructural study of elytra and head muscles in Insecta, never studied before with the electron microscope.
