Neurosecretory cells have been detected also in Fasciola hepatica by means of Gabe's paraldehyde-fuchsin method. They are mono-, bi-, or multipolar nerve cells, whose cytoplasm is homogeneously filled with very small neurosecretory granules.Their cell body is peripherally placed either around the cephalic pharyngeal ganglia or around the ventral posterior and other nerve cords arising from each ganglion; nevertheless their axons often penetrate the fibrous inner part of nervous tissue. Neurosecretory Gabe-positive materials are not stainable by means of the Schmorl method for demonstrating lipofuscins.
