In a previous note published by the Rendiconti the specific dissipation function Q of the free oscillations of the Earth excited by the Chilean earthquake of 1960 has been determined from the records obtained at the earth's tide station of the Grotta Gigante near Trieste. The analysis was carried out separately for the two cardinal components. In the present note the function Q is determined taking instead into account the total energy associated with each frequency band as determined from the joint analysis of the two components. Frequency bands from 10^-2 to 25x10^-2 cpm are considered and significant values for Q as a function of frequency are obtained for periods from 4 to 20 minutes.
