Sunto

The haemoglobins of the species Gobius jozo, G. ophiocephalus and G. paganellus of the Lagoon of Venice are electrophoretically multiple, with different patterns. G. jozo exhibits a high haemoglobin polymorphism, since electrophoresis on starch gel permits the detection 6 different phenotypes, three of which result from the various combinations of the other three. A genetic explanation of these findings is discussed.
