Sunto

The substructure of the smooth fibres of the foot muscle of the Gasteropod mollusc Concholepas concholepas has been studied with the electron microscope. Two types of myofilaments are described: thick filaments (600-1700 Å) and thin filaments (45-70 Å). The thick myofilaments show a striated structure with periodicity of 150 Å; the thin myofilaments are interconnected by anastomotic bridges orthogonally arranged to the main axis of the fibercell.
