Infrared spectra of gaseous methyl thiocyanate adsorbed on solid aluminum chloride catalyst have been recorded and discussed. The spectroscopic behaviour of $\nu CN$, $\nu C_{\alpha}S$ and $\nu C_{\beta}S$ frequencies in adsorbed $H_{3}C_{\alpha}SC_{\beta}N$ is interpreted by an interaction between nitrogen "electron donor" atoms of adsorbed molecules and "electron acceptor" sites on surface of the catalyst. Methylating properties of adsorbed methyl thiocyanate are also suggested and shown by the lowering of $\nu C_{\alpha}S$ frequency.
