Sunto

Observations made by the Gomori technique on glutaraldehyde-fixed tissues demonstrate direct intervention of lysosomes in the process of cellular degeneration which occurs during the regression of mesonephros in the chick embryo. The observed histochemical aspects are formation of cytolysomes, aggregation of droplets forming large and irregular acid phosphatase masses, and diffusion of the reaction in the cytoplasm. These morphologic features agree with previous biochemical results, which indicate a release of acid phosphatase during the regression of mesonephros.
