Sunto
The chromosome complement of male germ cells of some individuals of Oecanthus pellucens (Scop.) collected in Lazio and in Abruzzo has been examined. There are 2 n = 18 chromosomes with one heteromorphic pair. In spermatogonial mitotic metaphase there were observed 13 dot-shaped chromosomes and 5 large acrocentrics or subacrocentrics. Two of these are about $5 \mu$, two about $2,8 \mu$, and one about $4 \mu$ long, the latter probably being the X which pairs with a dot-shaped Y. In an early instar nymph a chromatic body was observed which is interpreted as a "mitotically stable" supernumerary chromosome. The chromosome numbers reported up to the present for species in the genus Oecanthus are 20 and 19.
