The Authors have tested the effects of a treatment with thalidomide on adult female pigeons (Columba livia Gm.) in which, in the same time, a follicular hormone (Ovociclina, Ciba) was injected in order to promote the osteogenesis in the marrow of the bone cavities, typical for the female birds and accompaying the egg shell formation. The histological preparations of the bones of the pigeons treated with both the "ovociclina" and the thalidomide reveal a marked inhibition of the endomedullary osteogenesis when compared with those of the pigeons receiving only follicular hormone.
